Dr Dean Samaras (podiatric surgeon) is a comprehensively trained podiatric surgeon. He has completed fellowship training with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons (ACPS) which included international preceptorships and courses in the UK and  USA  with  renowned  podiatric and  orthopedic  surgeons.

Dr Samaras (podiatric surgeon) has specialist registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia which is part of the  Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). He is endorsed to prescribe scheduled medicines for conditions relating to the foot and ankle.

Dean is a resourceful and experienced practitioner and provides tailored care for each of his patients. He recognises the importance of both conservative and surgical  options as part of treatment planning. He has a very practical approach and enjoys problem solving with his patients. Wherever possible he focuses on the least invasive surgical methods in order to reduce pain and encourage early return to activity and function. This approach has developed over 10 years of treating athletes, actors, farmers professional dancers, chefs, doctors, nurses, teachers, tradespeople and many others who depend on their feet.

Dean adopts modern surgical methods to correct conditions such as bunions (hallux valgus), hammertoes, Morton’s neuroma, bursitis, ligament tears, tendon injuries, ankle instability, painful arthritis, bone spurs, foot fractures, tarsal coalitions, painful accessory bones, particularly in children and many others.

Dr Dean Samaras (podiatric surgeon) performs surgery in

 accredited hospitals with specialist anaesthetists

 and experienced nursing staff.

Minor procedures can be performed in the clinic under local anaesthetic. Examples include ingrown toenail surgery, wart removal, soft tissue and joint injections and ganglion aspiration. He also provides consultation and treatment for acute injuries such as ankle sprains and foot fractures.

His formal academic commitment as an Adjunct Lecturer at LaTrobe University involves teaching undergraduate podiatric surgery, local anaesthesia and pharmacology. He has a long history as a clinical examiner as well as supervisor of students on clinical placements. He is a Trustee of the Australian Podiatric Education and Research Foundation and has published results of clinical research in international surgical journals.

Dean welcomes new patients to his rooms. A referral is not required but you may ask your podiatrist, GP or other health practitioner to provide a letter with information about your presenting problem.
